Thung Wua Laen Beach - Chumphon

Welcome to Chumphon, the gateway to the South.

Chumphon is located just south of Bangsapan and Hua hin area, a little bit less than 500 kilometers South of Bangkok and is the capital city of the province of Chumphon, 4th province of Thailand. It is mostly known by travellers as it is a Pier area, giving access to the famous islands of the Gulf of siam : Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.
But Chumphon has much more to offer than a simple departure and arrival point for boats. Indeed, its coastline is lined with splendid beaches you will be charmed to discover.
Contrary to other beaches on the Thailand coastline, Chumphon and its surroundings have not developed themselves around the tourism industry, and the main activity of the province remains farming and fishing. And yet, the province of Chumphon has 222 kilometers of white sand beaches, splendid stretches lining all the coast, but with facilities far less developed than the usual offer in such beautiful seaside places.
Plage - ChumphonBut, if you have the good idea to come and stay on one of the many stunning beaches of the area, you will still find hotel offers to stay, of course, but you will mostly enjoy the luck to have the beach on your own, where you will spend vacation of dreams, typical, with a real "local thai life" around you, not like in most beach places where local life is 100% focused on tourism.
But for how long from now will all these hydillic beaches like Thung Wua Laen, Tha Yang, Pakklong or Pak Tako still remain ignored by all the tourism business promotors ?
Novotel group just finished building a huge complex on the seaside of Tha Yang beach, 8 km South of Chumphon, including a Golf Course of high class, and other international brand hotels seem to be interested as well in investing in this potential new eldorado for tourists. So, don't wait no more, just enjoy it right now, while it is time, as long as this eldorado is still virgin, and you will then surely understand, by yourself, what means the famous expression "It was better before..." !
